Who we are

Fairer Family Court is a voluntary campaign run by Gavin Johnston. For data protection purposes, Gavin Johnston is the controller of the personal information described here. Contact: contact@fairerfamilycourt.org.

What we collect, and why

Email updates. If you sign up, we collect your email address and postcode, and optionally your name, phone number and the role you choose (for example “parent going through the family court”). We use this only to send you emails about our campaigns, publications and actions you can take, and to send the right ask to the right people, for example supporters in the constituency of an MP on a committee.

Your sign-up, and the role you tell us, may reveal your political opinions or personal circumstances. We treat this as sensitive. We rely on your explicit consent, which you give by ticking the box and confirming your email address. You can withdraw it at any time.

Email your MP. Nothing you type on our “Email your MP” pages is stored or sent to us. Your postcode is sent from your browser to the UK Parliament’s official Members API to find your MP. The email is sent from your own email account, so we never see it.

Emails to us. If you email us, we use what you send only to reply.

Who else handles your data

MailerLite stores our mailing list and sends our emails on our behalf. Netlify hosts this website and keeps short-term technical logs, such as IP addresses, to run and protect it. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address. If you choose to support us, Buy Me a Coffee handles your payment under its own privacy policy, and we receive only what it shares with us, such as your name and any message. We never sell or share your data with anyone else.

How long we keep it

We keep your sign-up details until you unsubscribe. We may remove contacts who have not opened our emails for a long time. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link.

Cookies

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our sign-up form is provided by MailerLite, which may set technical cookies needed for the form to work.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Email contact@fairerfamilycourt.org. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
